Our mountain hotel is the ideal starting point for crossing the Dachstein on skis!
The gondola to the Dachstein glacier is right in front of our mountain hotel! This means you can start your Dachstein crossing directly from the hotel and relax in the hotel before and/or after.
The Dachstein Crossing is considered the most spectacular way to experience the Dachstein UNESCO World Heritage Site. Depending on the snow conditions, you can enjoy crossing the glacier on touring skis or alpine skis between February and April. Starting from the mountain station, a wide track stretches down to the Dirndl-Kolk and on towards the Simonyhütte. This is where the descent to the Gjaidalm via the ski and hiking trail begins. A short lift provides easy access to the downhill piste to Obertraun on Lake Hallstatt. The return transfer is by bus back to the Hotel Türlwand, we will be happy to explain the details to you on site. The tour is only recommended for experienced skiers.
The route is around 18 kilometers long and includes 242 vertical meters of ascent and 2,323 vertical meters of descent - the entire day including return transfer should be planned for this.
Gondola reservation and prices
The gondola reservation for the trip to the Dachstein glacier is obligatory. To guarantee the return transfer by bus, you must register on site at the valley station of the cable car. All important information and prices are summarized here.

Cross-Country skiing in Ramsau am Dachstein
With its sunny plateau at 1,100 m above sea level, Ramsau am Dachstein offers the best conditions for an active cross-country skiing holiday. You can expect:
- 220 kilometers of perfectly groomed cross-country ski trails, 150 km of which are classic and 70 km of skating/sports trails
- 13 cross-country skiing circuits with different levels of difficulty
- 4 km illuminated night trail in the stadium in Ramsau Ort - daily from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m

Cross-country skiing on the Dachstein Gletscher
The longest glacier trail in the world is located on the Dachstein Glacier at 2,700 m above sea level. Enjoy 18 km of perfectly groomed trails. Enjoy the powder snow and the mountain air on our panoramic trail.
Many nations of the world elite of Nordic skiing train all year round in excellent cross-country trail conditions on the glacier.
Ski touring on and around the Dachstein
The Dachstein is known far beyond the borders. Hikers and climbers romp around not only in summer, the Dachstein is also very popular in winter. Float in the gondola at almost 3000m and enjoy the freedom to go wherever you want.
For ski tourers who are in better shape, there are many opportunities around the hotel to master fast descents with many meters of altitude. The national ski tour starts right outside the front door and takes you over the Stein to Hallstatt or Obertraun. Also possible without ski touring equipment.
Snowshoe hiking & tobogganing
Another highlight in winter is snowshoeing. The alpine meadows around the hotel and the plateau in Ramsau are ideal for hiking with snowshoes. An easy hiking trail (forest road) is ideal for walking to Ramsau and back to the hotel. Enjoy the fresh mountain air and silence.
The most beautiful snowshoe hikes
From the Berghotel Türlwand you can toboggan via the "Skiweg" (7 km) to Ramsau Ort - return by bus to the hotel. And if tobogganing was really fun, the 3.5 km long night toboggan run on the Rittisberg will also inspire you.
Skiing
In Ramsau am Dachstein, in the heart of the Ski amadé ski area, families with children and beginners will find optimal conditions. The family ski area with its practice lifts and wide ski meadows can be reached from the Berghotel Türlwand via the ski path down into the valley. From here you have a wonderful view of the snow-capped mountains of the Tauern and the south walls of the Dachstein.
The Ramsau ski region offers 10 family-friendly ski lifts and 23 kilometers of pistes, here a skiing experience away from mass skiing is guaranteed!
